About 80 oncologists from 8 Asian countries including China, India, Indonesia, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, Taiwan and Hong Kong gathered at Guangzhou to attend the formation meeting of the Asian Society of Cryosurgery (ASC) held at Guangzhou, China on 25th May 2012.
The main objective of the Society is to enhance the development and research on cryoablation, cryosurgery in particular, in the treatment of cancer in Asia. Cryoablation is a low temperature therapy which has gained importance in the medical field. It is widely used in the field of dermatology, gynaecology, urology, neurology, pulmonary medicine, cardiology and oncology. Cryosurgery provides a new option for cancer treatment especially for unresectable tumours or when radiotherapy and chemotherapy have failed to work.
